So what are meat spots or also called blood spots. They are caused when a blood vessel ruptures on the yolks surface while it is being formed. Probably won’t find one in your eggs from a commercial egg company. They discard those eggs during candling the eggs. Meat spots are perfectly fine to eat but if it does bug you just scoop it out with a spoon.

Chickens and quail can stop/slow down on laying eggs for a number of reasons. Could be do to stress, bad nutrition, they are molting, they are getting older, cold/heat, or less light due to the change of the seasons. For me its molting and the change of the seasons. Chickens need at lest 12 hours of light but 14 or 16 is best. Quail need at lest 14 hours but 16 is best. Some say this is nature’s way of letting the birds rest. If you want to keep them laying you can bring in artificial lighting. Just a normal light bulb will work. I saw some people use Christmas lights makes their coops/pens look very festive for the holidays.

It’s been a while sence I shared a photo of myself and with the girls ( chickens). Its gotten chilly where I live but I’m always cold. It was windy with some rain on the day I took these photos it was 51 out and yes I have on a beanie and gloves 😂😂.

For most people they don’t think about their health. When you are healthy it’s the last thing on your mind. That’s how it was for me. I’m still healthy but I have found a hard lump in my leg. It’s a wait and see game now. I’ve been keeping myself busy I got a paperweight made it’s a sea shell themed. The thing I love about the paperweights that I make is that they can be used also as knick knacks! I’ve also been busy with the girls (chickens), quail ( my Pearl’s are looking amazing hopefully in the next week or so I can get some good photos of them), and then of course there’s school with the kids. As fall comes so does cooler weather! As we get closer to the colder months the quail and chickens will slow down in their laying. Nature’s way of taking a break. My goal is to get more jam and soapdishes made but with wanting to get those done comes birthdays and holidays! I’m happy that we are ready for Halloween! Our first week of school is done! There were a few hiccups but we are getting back into the routine! My oldest is liking most of his classes, my second oldest is getting the hang of middle school, and my third and fourth are getting the hang of their new school. Today number 3 got an 80% on her science she had no help. She was very proud of herself as am I. Along with getting school done I also got 12 dz eggs from the quail. I finally get to use my new eggs cartons!
