  • Nice weather!

When the weather is nice no one wants to be indoors! I have to admit I don’t want be in doors on a day like today either. Our high is 62, there is no wind, and there is a nice Blue sky! It’s odd weather for us this time of year. Normally at this time of year it’s cold, very windy, and sometimes snow down in the valley. So when the weather is at its finest for the start of February we had to take advantage of it! We went out on our school lunch break, the kids played, the girls (chickens) ran around in their run, and I found most of the parts for the green house. However the plastic looks like Freddy Krueger got a hold of itπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. #greenhouse #niceweatherforthisweek

  • Apple cider vinegar

Today I started my girls on Apple cider vinegar and garlic in their water. It’s one tablespoon of Apple cider vinegar per gallon. Apple cider vinegar could have health benefits for chickens just like it does for humans it supports the immune system. It has a lot of vitamins. It can help with digestion and making it less friendly for little bad critters to enter your chickens. One clove of garlic in their water. It is said that the garlic will help keep mites away…( my girls do not have mites I give them the garlic because just like for people it is healthy. ) because they don’t like the taste of garlic in the blood. This was told to me by a farmer. I’ve done my own research to me it makes sense to try it out. Others say that the garlic is just a myth. Just like anything you are going to have people with their own way of doing something.. some say this works others say it doesn’t. Do your own research and find out what works best for you!

  • Shuts & opens

When one door shuts they say another one opens. I don’t think it’s just one door that opens, what if many doors open up and you just don’t see them or what if you need to look for them. Sometimes waiting to see what you should do can be stressful. Big change is not welcome by many. The last few days I’ve been faced with a big change and I have to keep reminding myself to look for those doors because they are out there. #change #yourcandoit #lookforthoseopendoors.

  • Cranky pillows

Tonight I’ve had a very cranky baby, I think he’s teething. So with the few free minutes I was able to get, I made some new pillows! I love the fabric! I however need to practice more on my ladder stitch! πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

  • Bobbins

You would think putting thread on a bobbin ( for sewing ) would be easy. Little plastic thing no bigger than a thumb.

First you need to put the tread through one of the holes.. everyone says it doesn’t matter which hole some say just the top hole. Then you hook your bobbin on to your sewing machine and press the foot petal down slowly and it winds up… sounds simple enough right…. well it’s not! If it doesn’t go on evenly well then you’re starting all over! That’s what I’ve had to do it many times over the last few days.

I know it’s hard to see in this photo but up at the top you can see where it didn’t go smoothly.

This one is done nicely, it’s smooth and not loose. It’s also the one that came with the sewing machine. Practice is what I need to do.. lots and lots of practice! #bobbinscanbetricky #whomadethebobbin #whatwereyouthinkingwhenyoumadethebobbin #practice #bobbincansuck

  • No me

Went out to check On the girls (chickens) Medusa was chilling in the nesting boxes. She had to come over to have her photo taken. 🀣🀣

However my sweet girl didn’t seem to want to share the spot light with Bella when she joined in.

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ A little too close girls!

    That’s better! #chickens #coops #lovechickens #mygirls

  • Make a good mama

I went out to collect eggs from the girls (chickens) and Bella was in a nesting box. She was sitting on four eggs! She was sweet didn’t peck at me😊 she enjoyed getting some pets. I wasn’t taking the eggs out fast enough ( I had my phone doing the video in one hand and the basket wasn’t close to us) she would push them back under her. One day she will make a good mama. When some chickens go broody they can get protective over the eggs. Even go as far as to peck at someone if they try to take the eggs out of the nest.

  • Scarf

Today I finished knitting my daughter her scarf. I had started it back in June. I’ve never been fast at knitting so when I get something done it’s exciting for me. My daughter had picked yellow, white, and pink to use for her scarf. When I was almost done with it she told me .. ” mom that’s very bright maybe we should change the color” no child you said yellow it’s taken me almost a year to make this.. it’s staying yellow! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  • Coop name

I spent a lot of time on what to name my coop. I know to some this must seem silly. For me it was something I wanted to accomplish.

I finally fell in love with ” delicious cluckers” no I as of right now do now have any meat birds but some day I would like too. I found this name to be funny. I’m not the best at painting letters but I do love how my chicken turned out! #funnyname #chickens #farmlife #lovemycoopname

  • Girls

Went out today and cleaned out the girls (chickens). Scrub down the roosting pole and their ladder that leads to the nesting boxes. I also added more pine shavings for their bedding in the nesting boxes and on the ground floor of the coop. Then we decided to take some selfies!
