  • Dr. Evil Mrs Porkchop

    Porkchop is Palmer sister.

She is also very beautiful. She and Palmer are more laid back out of all the pigs. Porkchop likes pets and belly rubs, but she likes to do it when she wants to as to where Palmer will just come over when you enter their pen.

We will also be breeding her. Seeing her piglets will be fun also.

  • Palmer

Palmer will be a year old at the end of May.

Her coloring is beautiful she is red. When the sunlight hits her,  she has gold coming through. My kids say she looks like a hotdog. 🤣 I can’t wait to breed her and see what coloring the piglets have.

  • Dalila and Cordelia

Cordelia loves playing with Dalila,  Cain is still a little unsure of Cordelia but Dalila does wonderful with her.

Even if Cordelia can’t go inside the pen to see Dalila,  they still have fun together.

  • Harness training with Cain

Today was Cains first day out in the bigger pen for his harness training.

He gave a little resistance at first, but then, after a few minutes, he started to settle down. We did 10 mins today, and we will increase the time as the days go on.

Dalila was happy to help and get treats, too!

  • Brushing Cain

Yesterday the weather wasn’t too bad. We decided to get some brushing in for the cows.

Cain did very well with his first brushing.

  • Working with Cain

Cold windy day, but work doesn’t stop on our homestead!  Working with Cain, he is  getting the hang of the harness. We are so proud of him.  We tried some carrots, but he wasn’t too crazy about those. He did like his apple treats.

Mazikeen is looking so pretty.  We had a wind storm  come in.  Those clouds were nice and dark but no rain or snow. Maybe later on in the week!

  • Start of our future

It’s been a while since I wrote! We have been very busy getting our homestead set up!

We have gone from only having  chickens, turkeys, and ducks.. to goats, pigs, alpacas, sheep, and our newest members, on our  homestead, are highland cows!

Our heifer calf is six months old and about 300 to 400 pounds. We named her Dalila.  She is very sweet.

    Dalila

Our other highland cow is our bull calf. He is four months old and about 200 – 250 pounds. We named him Cain.

A  big thank you to Black Rock Homestead for helping me get the cows area set up. I couldn’t have done it without you guys! Cain will need  to be worked with he’s a little ruff around the edges,  I’m excited about this challenge.

    Here is Apollo eating.

Apollo is about 5 or 6 years of age. He likes to keep everyone in line.
