As I lay here once again in this small toddler bed I cant help but think of what I need to do for the week. Just like everyone else I’m trying to get through these rough times. A part of me is wishing a had a stock of toilet paper and the other part me is thinking about the chores that still need to be done. On a happier note my quail chicks are doing amazing. I normally grind their feed up so there is less waste. I don’t like to waste items or things when I know it can be avoided. I also this past weekend got to go painting with one of my good friends miriyacrochet. It snowed where I’m at, not a lot but enough to hold off my work outside. Now the snow is mostly gone where I’m at so that means time to get outside and work! Number three and I found these old pillars from a gazebo. We thought they make cute planters. They were black but she painted them red before I got a chance to take a photo. She did a good job using the spray paint.

Next she and I picked a color (only took her a week to decide 😂) she picked a really nice blue.

I’ve been thinking about starting a mealworm farm. Finally decided to get the items and make it. I decided to go with the stackable drawers.

Then the kids and I cut out the middle and glue in the screen our cutting job wasn’t too great but that’s okay. They will have the memory of the fun time they had making this.

Each day I take a little time to spend with my new birds. I’m working with one at a time. My husband was very sweet to get me some Mearns quail. The rooster is responding very well and enjoys sitting on my lap.

As you can see in this photo he was interested in my phone. I still have a lot of work to do with them. They are very different from coturnix quail. All five kids have co -slept with me. Now I’m working with number five to sleep in his own bed. On one hand  I’m excited to have my bed back but on the other hand I will miss the co sleeping/cuddles.  I know what your thinking how could you miss that.. and your right I won’t miss waking up because a little foot has kicked me in the stomach, being smacked in the face by a little hand, or my blankets being kicked off but I will miss the cuddles and I know that he will still want to cuddle here and there but it’s the start of him getting older to were soon he won’t need me to smash myself next to him in that little toddler bed.

Which by the way I would have to say if you are ever unsure how small you can make yourself then just try to fit yourself into a toddler bed. 😂😂 For me getting in isn’t the trouble its getting out. I started some seeds today. I like to save the single serving containers for mac n cheese.  They  work great for holding paint for when the little ones are doing art but today I’m going to use them for planting seeds.

I used my dremel tool to put small holes in the bottom but a knife would work as well. I also like to use these because they have the water fill line which is perfect for teaching little ones the half way mark for the dirt.I planting some habanero seeds.  They will be great for jam and pickled eggs!  Later on in the week I’ll start some other seeds maybe some bell peppers or some beans. We have started school back up and even with the mess up with my oldest classes it still so far has gone pretty well. The girls ( chcikens) have even started laying again which is funny because I didn’t think they would for a few more months. It’s nice though to get some eggs here and there now. So what’s everyone’s new years resolution? I don’t normally make resolutions but for those that do share your progress with us. We will cheer you on in what ever it is you are trying to accomplish, except for murder cause then that means I would be an an accomplice and I really don’t need that on my plate right now. 😂

These are the cards I decided to use with wakita this year. The fun part about taking photos with the girls(chickens) is that they are a lot like toddlers. They might hold still or you might find yourself chasing one of your girls through your house with your oldest yelling at you that now the girl is flying through the house while she starts chasing him because she wanted his food. Around the holidays everyone wants everything to go smoothly.. does it ever? Maybe for some they have family they don’t get along with or they just don’t like the holidays for whatever reason, or maybe for like most money is tight, everyone wants to try and give/ get that perfect gift. For my family its that all five kids and myself have been sick. We are coming up on the two week mark soon for having this horrible cold. If you think kids are whiny when they are not sick well just wait. For the past week you would have thought they were dying. I know people say boys/men are more whiny when they are sick but I got to say my daughter (#3) is the winner for being more whiny than all four of her borthers combined. The weather has been wet and cold where I live. The wet weather makes it hard to get things done outside with the girls(chickens) so I started another hobby! Etching wine glasses!

I got two done so far. I enjoyed doing these a lot.
